Hi ive recently installed vista beta 2 but i cant find a driver for my soundmax audio card. I have tried running the update driver in device manager and it finds suitable software but says that it cannot find the specified file to install it. i am using a foxconn motherboard and would appreciate any help on the subject. Cheers Matt

Thanks for the responce but i tried looking on their site but i cant seem to find the appropriate driver the ones i have tried do not work and it says they are not supported by this operating system. i have heard that the drivers will be available when the next big update RC1 becomes available but i would like to have one sooner than that.

i ran the soundmax drivers untill it said it doesnt work with this version of windows. then went into program files, and copied the extracted drivers to another location, then installed them via the device manager update driver option.
these seem to work fine for me

The PC I'm testing on is an Alienware MJ12 whichI believe is based off the Intel e7525 workstation chipset. The SOundmax drivers they gave me last time I rebuilt the machine don't have a proper installation application. I only have the INF files etc for updating the driver.
If I could find a proper installation file for this machine I'd give your suggestion a shot. I'll try to ring Alienware support Wednesday.
If you have any other suggestions I'm all ears - so far Ive been pretty lucky in getting my other apps etc to work with the help of folks on forums like these!

OK - I tried the above - ran the setup.exe that Alienware provided - rebooted and everything worked.
HOWEVER - I would recommend entering msconfig and turning off the Soundmax systray app - it seems to have been causing some odd issues in which my IE, Outlook 2007 or the system would lock up requiring reboot - and audio would die somewhere in the middle.
Since I've deactivated the Soundmax app at boot I've had fewer issues with audio.
